About The Academy

The Melbourne United Basketball Academy aims to provide a pathway for athletes to reach their potential, starting from under 12s all the way up to 20. Led by United’s coaching staff, MUBA athletes will learn to play out the concepts that have won Melbourne a pair of championships and helped develop players into elite NBA and NBL talents.

Athletes will learn the fundamentals of basketballin a safe and competitive environment. We will focus on Ball handling, passing, layup finishing, shooting tech, individual offence and defence, decisionmaking. We will also introduce the players to small-sided games where theplayers will learn the concepts that our NBL team use.

Made up of the Development Academy and Performance Academy, as well as new Small Group Training Programs, MUBA has the perfect collection of resources and options for anyone looking to take their play to the next level.

MUBA athletes will get the opportunity to showcase the skills they’ve improved on the court during Academy Play Days, where athletes will team up for a day full of competition.A select few athletes will also get the chance to join the new Melbourne United Academy Scholarship program, which will deliver unique development opportunities such as one-on-one sessions with Melbourne United coaches as well as strength and conditioning programs and nutrition advice.

Academy athletes will receive club benefits including game day experiences, discounted tickets and access to inner sanctum events.
